Love: Christmas Beauty Crackers 2016

We’ve had the beauty advent calenders (and plenty of them) but brands are also delving into Christmas crackers which are great for secret santa gifts and stocking fillers. Here are my top ten from some of the brands I love.

At no. 10 it’s the christmas cracker from Molton Brown. Containing a handcream, body wash, and lotion it’s a great stocking filler that will make you smell heavenly. Priced at £20 it’s more on the expensive side but if you know someone who loves Molton Brown this is perfect for them. It also comes in a variety of different scents.

Add it to your christmas list or get it for a friend at only £10.

  1. Jo Malone London Christmas Cracker

And at the top of list is the most luxurious of them all. Jo Malone’s £33 cracker contains the Mimosa & Cardamom Body Crème, Basil & Neroli Cologne, and Blackberry & Bay Body & Hand Wash. It’s definately the most indulgent and expensive, however if you have never tried any of the Jo Malone range it is a great set to get you started.

I hope your Christmas goes off with a BANG!

Autumnal makeup

Autumnal makeup

Creating fresh, dewy, gorgeous skin is this A/W 2016 trend. Finding the right skincare and makeup is super important in achieving this; (seeing as we don’t have the warm summer months anymore). So for this post, I thought I’d do an update of what was in my makeup bag. It has some of my favourite products in and are perfect for this time of month.

When the colder months roll in it’s important to look after your skin to create a perfect base. Starting with you skincare and drinking lots of water can definately help, but so can a primer. I have really been enjoying the Clinique Universal Primer that I have been trialing as a free tester. It creates a smooth and hydrated base that is going to help make foundation application easier and longer lasting.

To create fresh looking skin I have been using Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue in the shade Vanilla. Its powerful hydrating properties means you can achieve a healthy-looking coverage that isn’t too cakey and feels lovely on the skin. It’s the best of a CC and a BB cream meaning you get the best of both worlds. You can apply via your fingers or a buffing brush allowing a light to medium coverage. I have been loving using this as an everyday product and is now the staple product in my makeup bag.

Another foundation I have been trialing alongside the universal primer is Clinique’s new Superbalanced Silk Foundation. You can go into stores and get colour-matched and recieve a 10 day free trial with the primer to try it out. The foundation is beautifully light on the skin and gives you the coverage you need and want. With the primer, it creates flawless, dewy skin and something I will be purchasing for the festive season. It has oil-control and is great for all skin types.

To brighten under the eyes I have been enjoying using the L’Oreal Paris Lumi Magique Highlighter in the light shade. The twist up pen makes application really easy and brightens up my complexion. You can find it in the likes of Boots and Superdrug  and can also be used to highlight other features on your face.

For powders I mix between two which I have previously mentioned on the blog.
The first one comes from Origins which is the Revitilising Mineral Makeup which can be used alone or to set makeup; and the second comes from Hourglass which is part of the Ambient Lighting Collection.

Bronzer and Highlighter

For bronzing and highlighting I still use the Tanya Burr Peachy Cheek Palette and the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette.
You can see the review of them on a recent post called ‘Summer Bronze’ which is the second link below.

You can see the two posts HERE  and HERE.

Both of my favourite brow products come from Benefit. To fill and shape I use the Goof Proof Brow Pencil. It is so simple to use with the shaped tip and comes with a spooly on the end to help tame brows. Over the top I use Gimme Brow. This helps keep brows set in place and stops hair from going stray. You can also use this alone for quick results if you are in a rush.

Roller Lash has become a staple product in my makeup bag and when using other mascara’s they don’t quite match it. It’s super easy and quick to use giving fast and effective results. With the curve in the wand, it fits your eyelashes giving them volume and length- from a fluttery day to day look to mega volume for a night out. The packaging, like all Benefit products, is super cute and will instantly become a part of your everyday makeup routine.

During Autumn warm golden tones complement pale skin with plums, reds, and golden shimmer. At this time of year I reach for my MAC quad which contains vanilla, cranberrry, charcoal brown, and honey lust. I’ve also been using the Clarins eyeshadow in silver pink which has lovely plumy/pink shade. Unfortunately, I can no longer find this shade however I have linked a similar one down below.

When you think of Autumnal makeup the first thing to come to mind are deep berry shades. I don’t normlly wear lipstick on a day to day basis, but when I do I reach for the Clarins Joli Rouge Lipstick in Raspberry and the Tanya Burr lipglosses.
The lipstick has a beautiful creamy formula and is hydrating on the lips (top lipstick) whilst the Tanya Burr lipgloss is the perfect berry shade (one underneath).
Unfortunately the lipgloss was apart of the advent calendar last year but there are some similar in which you can buy. (Eyeshadow is honeylust).
Get the best of both worlds with this Clarins lipgloss pictured below.

And there we have it! All of the products I have been using so far this Autumn.
I hope this gives you fresh ideas on how to update your makeup bag for the season.

Summer of Sunsets

This time last year I started my blog! How crazy is that! It’s a place where from time to time I like to share my favourite things whilst being able to look back at memories and products that I have loved and can come back to. I love coming up with creative ideas and posts and being able to share them with people.

I’m a bit gutted that the summer is coming to an end but also excited to see what Autumn has to offer compared to previous years. With the launch of my dance platform Raising the Barre I hope to spend as much time on that as possible and develop it to the best possible standards.

Over the summer I took many a photo of sunsets. I love summer evenings where the sky is still bright and dreamy and watching the sunset producing beautiful colours in the sky. Here are my top 10 from start to finish: IMG_1475IMG_1466IMG_1732IMG_1627IMG_1810IMG_1938IMG_1926IMG_1937IMG_2002IMG_2037

Summer Bronze

Summer Bronze

As the summer begins to draw to a close we lose sight of summer bronzed, healthy looking skin. I’ve put together some of my favorite bronzers to help try and keep the illusion alive as we roll into Autumn.

Hourglass- Ambient lighting bronzer £22-£45: This gorgeous palette features one of the bronzers that are part of the ambient lighting powders. Its formula is easy to apply and blends out well to give a subtle glow and warmth to the cheeks. I’ve just seen that John Lewis has a travel size at £22 which will last you forever if you wanted to try it out.

Tanya Burr- Peachy glow palette-£8: At an absolute bargain, this palette gives you the perfect combination to keep that summer glow going. All 3 shades are perfect together and blend out really nicely. The bronzer can be worn subtly or built up for a stronger impact.

Mii Bronzing Highlighter: The creamy formula works perfectly on top of cheek bones and gives a gorgeous glow. Layer on top of a bronzer for a full on bronzed glow. It is almost like a rose gold tint with shimmer which creates that healthy glow. It also works extraordinarily as a cream eyeshadow.

Love: Livia’s Kitchen

As you try and discover a career path in life, you often face several knockbacks and a lot of ups and downs. This year, as I knew it would, I have gone through a rollercoaster of emotions as I try and settle on something that I want to do and trying to work towards it.

Searching through YouTube for another video to watch I stumbled across Livia’s Kitchen.
I recognised the products from Olivia instantly as Lily Pebbles had talked about her Crumbles, and I had seen other Instagrams of her Raw Millionaire Bites. I started to watch some of her  recipe videos and vlogs and it suddenly hit me when learning about her journey to her success. I knew already that finding your dream job or starting your own business doesn’t just come to you instantly. You have to work bloody hard, have an amazing idea, and push the limits like never before. But, seeing Olivia broadcast her highs and lows, the ups and downs, her story, the journey.. just everything put together… made me realise that I wasn’t alone in this weird and wonderful world; and if you work for something then your dreams can become a reality. I love Olivia’s positive outlook on life, showing her viewers recipe developments, how not everything goes to plan, how she works late evenings replying to emails and getting up early to start again. She also shows how she doesn’t give herself enough credit or time to just chill out. Olivia dedicates herself to her team of Elves and her brand and doesn’t stop until she reaches the top! And By Joe has she done just that!

That evening things just felt like they fell that little bit more into place. It motivated me to start researching towards something that I had dreamt of doing for such a long time, and I told myself that although I may not be where I want to be in life right now, to appreciate what I have got and create plans and dreams for the future. I have a lotta lotta respect for Olivia and love following her along on her empowering and aspiring journey. I’ve tried making her ‘guilt-free’ treats such as the peanut butter slabs which are amazingly yummy and have found her raw millionaire bites stocked at an independent coffee shop called ‘Epicure’ in Berkhamsted, which are again, so good!

I can’t wait to see where Olivia and her products go in the future, as well as aspiring to be like her as I continue my journey  on something very exciting coming up soon… so watch this space! I would highly recommend checking out her site Livia’s Kitchen and making some of her really easy recipes!

Love: Sunskis

Love: Sunskis

Here in Britain, we are finally having some hot weather (hoorah)! And although most of us would probably use sunglasses all year round, summer tends to be the time of year that people gravitate towards buying a new pair. In previous years I have brought RayBans such as the Wayfarers and the Clubmasters, and although they have served me well I have noticed the wear and tear of them as time goes on.

This year I wanted to purchase a new pair which were polarised. With RayBan, they tend to come up more expensive as the lens is of a higher quality, and I couldn’t bring myself to pay for a pair!

Shopping with my mum, I was in Hollister when I discovered Sunskis by the accessories stand. As soon as I saw them I fell in love! They were the perfect, size, fit, and frame that I was looking for, and they were polarised. I brought them instantly which says it all, and researched about the brand as I had never heard of them.. and from that this is where the LOVE factor comes in because they go above and beyond.. are you ready!

  1. They are a small team based in San Francisco with life’s motto being ‘live life outside’. They promote friendly vibes and adventure.
  2. They make high-quality sunglasses without the ridiculous price tag!!! I have already noticed this from having them for several months and so far so good! Every pair is polarised and they use the best possible design, materials, and presentation.
  3. They are part of the 1% for the Planet campaign in which they donate 1% of their profits to benefit our planet-  really simple but effective.
  4. They also work with Adventurers & Scientists for Conservation, Save the Waves, and Leave No Trace who are all trying to make an impact on people to help save our environment.
  5. And last but by no means least, they have a lifetime warranty!!! Their BOMBPROOF warranty means that if anything happens to your sunglasses they will either try and resolve the issue with one of their kits or if there is real damage you can ship the glasses out to them, and they will try and fix them or send out a new pair! Amazing!

I have a pair of the Dipseas in Emerald Tortoise which has a slightly smaller lens and thin arms. They have certified UVA/B/400 protection with the frames being polycarbonate with a tri-spoke lock-tight hinge.

They are not gender specific (which I also love) and so anyone can wear them!
They come with a micro fibre bag as well as a crafted carrying case.
From Hollister, they range from £49-£58. If you buy them from the Sunski website they range from £36.30-£43.68 with shipping costing £18.90.

I would definitely recommend checking out their website and blog for action-packed adventures as well as to check out the full range.

Tanya Bakes

For my Dad’s Birthday this year I decided to make a selection of biscuits and cookies from Tanya Burr’s new recipe book Tanya Bakes. I decided to do the Chocolate Chip Shortbread, Vanilla and Pistachio Biscuits, and the Salted Nutella Cookies.

All were very simple to make, and with a friend, take no time at all. There are some great recipes for loads of different abilities and most recipes can be made up with the ingredients you’re likely to have at home!

I will say, however, that I did have a couple of issues that you may need to take note if you have a go at making these recipes. With the chocolate chip shortbread, I feel like the oven was too hot at 180° as the chocolate chips were really crunchy inside (either that or the timings are wrong). With the vanilla and pistachio biscuits, we had real issues with the mixture when it came out of the fridge as it was very crumbly. Instead of following the recipe in which you cut the cylinder shape into slices; we decided to roll the mixture into  bite size balls and then press them down with a fork. Both of these recipes do taste absolutely amazing though and were very easy to do. The Nutella Cookies are out of this world good! What I love so much about Tanya though, is that the troubles that you would have at home are what she also faces in her videos! She proves that not everything has to look perfect as long as the end result tastes delicious and you had fun making it!

Screen Shot 2016-07-31 at 18.40.35.png

My dad was thrilled to receive them and made a lovely and special homemade gift.

Tanya’s book is full of great photographs and step by steps and I can’t wait to give other recipes a go from the Brunch section, as well as the Seasonal ones!

Sunny Salcombe

Sunny Salcombe

If ever you get the chance, I would highly recommend taking a visit down to Salcombe, Devon. Known as England’s very own Santorini, you will find endless amounts of amazing cafes, bars, restaurants, and little things to do which just pulls your little get away altogether and makes you never want to leave!

I was lucky enough to be invited down with my besties and her family as they were partaking in Merlin Rocket Week ( a sailing event which happens every year in Salcombe). Doing something like this always means that you get to see the best bits as they have tried everything and know everyone; so you’re never short of a thing to do or see, and of course, an afternoon tea! Seeing as I only like sharing with you the things I love! I wanted to share some of the amazing things I got to experience, and if you’re heading down to Salcombe anytime soon, here are the places I would truly recommend!

The main road and touristy spot is Fore Street which acts as the main hub. Here you will find shops such as SeaSalt, Cath Kidston, FatFace, Joules, Independent Boutiques, and of course the birthplace of Jack Wills.

For breakfast I would recommend Captain Morgans- they do a great Full English and sausage sandwich, or The Salcombe Coffee Shop, who do an out of this world bacon sandwich and amazing amazing coffee!

For lunch, there is a plenty! You can grab yourself a pasty, fish & chips, or a crab sandwich. Other great places include Sailor V who do smoothies and lots of different things, or there are The Fortescue and The Ferry Inn for a pub lunch! For afternoon tea go to The Ward Room which is hidden behind Crew Clothing. You get a great view over the estuary and can see all the boats going by.

For dinner definitely, check out Captain Flints! They have amazing pasta and pizza, as well as burgers and fresh fish. There tends to be a queue but the wait is worthwhile! After flints just across is The Bakehouse. During the day they are a bakery, but in the evening they turn into a Creperié. I had a Nutella and banana one! If you fancy a coastline walk which isn’t too far then I would recommend heading to The Winking Prawn for their BBQ. Walk along Cliff Road to Salcombe North Sands and you will stumble across their Beach Cafe. It is hands down the best BBQ I’ve ever had and it was lovely being sat outside, the beach next to us and watching the sunset. You even get ice cream included! There is no need to book unless you want to eat in the restaurant.

The rest of the time I spent either on land or sea watching the sailing which I thoroughly enjoyed! It really was a great week and I cannot wait to do it again!!

Love: Bee Good

Love: Bee Good

As a massive lover of Bees, I thought I would give the Bee Good range a go! Their products are the only British premium skincare brand to exclusively use British beeswax, Honey, and propolis, and so with my very sensitive skin at the moment, I was very excited to see how they would work.

I am a big big fan of cream cleansers and this one is wonderful! At £11.50 you get exactly what you pay for- a gentle cleanser that smells delicious removing makeup and impurities leaving your skin feeling soft and smooth. The cleanser contains British wild flower honey, nourishing British crambe oil, and British Propolis. The Propolis has healing and antimicrobial meaning that it is perfect for problematic skin as it stops bacteria from spreading. Rich in vitamins B, C, and E it also makes it a natural skin healer. The cleanser comes with a muslin cloth which you rinse with warm water to remove the cleanser from your skin. I would highly recommend this cleanser!

In addition to the cleanser, I also decided to pick up the cleansing water (£10). After cleansing, I use the water to refresh my skin and get rid of any remaining makeup. It is gentle enough  to use around the eyes, and if kept in the fridge, is really refreshing and hydrating. I currently have some bad eczema around my eyes and this has helped to calm it down.

The last thing I picked up was the intensive hand repair. The thick formula instantly relieves dry, chapped hands and leaves them feeling soft and smooth. I have also been using this as a foot cream and on dry eczema. It has a gorgeous fragrance that isn’t too overpowering and has a great pump making it easy to use. It contains beeswax, shea, and cocoa butter to combat dryness and is £12. It is well worth the little extra expense and like all of their products supports British Bees.

I would highly recommend trying out the bee good range and supporting British Bees!

Say it with Biscuiteers!

Say it with Biscuiteers!

With exam season in full swing, revision is well under way for many students out there! Luckily I don’t have the pressure of exams this year as I am no longer a student, but completely understand the stress that everyone is under!

With that in mind, a friend and I decided that we wanted to do something special to help make revision that little bit easier, and called upon the Biscuiteers to help!

With lots of beautiful products to choose from, we decided to go with a box of colourful chocolate pencils that we could personalise with her name.
We managed to order the biscuits so that they would arrive on the first day of her exams using the 2-3 day delivery service and they arrived right on time!

Delighted with the biscuits we received a lovely message back, as well as snapchats and social media posts galore to say how delighted she was with them!

Screen Shot 2016-05-16 at 19.23.39

Other products in the collection include a great pencil case and a revision tin!

Biscuiteers have lots of lovely products on their site and are sure to put a smile on everyones face.. they even ship internationally!
Now… I’m just waiting for Alice to reply with a thank you biccie 😉
