Feeling Fresh Faced with Amie

Feeling Fresh Faced with Amie

Finding skincare that is affordable, in price range, and actually works on your skin can be somewhat of a challenge. I picked up a cleanser from Amie back when I was at University and couldn’t afford to re-stock on Liz Earle’s cleanse and polish and wanted something creamy to remove make-up. I have been buying the Morning Clear Purifying face wash ever since because it works very similarly to cleanse and polish as well as being organic and natural for a fraction of the price. Moreover, if you happen to run out of your favourite cleanser and can’t get ahold of it very easily then Amie can be found in your local Waitrose or online. The price range is great for all of the products in the range and there are great kits if you are new to the world of skincare or are on a budget.
I have recently tried out another 3 of the products in the range and thought I would review them on here for you.

Amie Moring Clear Purifying Facial Wash -£4.95

I use this cleanser morning and evening to remove make-up and to freshen up my skin. It leaves my skin feeling moisturised and clean and is really gentle. The super-effective natural solution helps to control and re-balance your skin with the use of Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Rosa Centifolia Flower Extract, and Malva Syvestris extract. These active ingredients are beneficial to the skin and contain high levels of fatty acids helping to moisturise. They also soothe and soften and help control breakouts, oiliness, and dryness. At £4.95 for 150ml, it’s not going to break the bank and is going to last you a really long time.

Amie Radiant Dawn Exfoliating Daily Wash– £4.95

It is vital to exfoliate your skin once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells and help new ones to grow. I wouldn’t use this one on a daily basis like the name suggests as I use the morning wash, however, when it comes to exfoliating on those couple of days it really gets to work. The face wash Contains green apple, lemon extract, blueberry seed, and vitamin E which all smell incredible! Again, the wash is 150ml so will last you a good amount of time.

Amie Morning Dew Matte Finish Moisturiser– £4.95

After cleansing, I think it is equally as important to moisturise. This one from Amie is light weight and absorbs into the skin well. It does what it says- controls oiliness and shine, hydrates, and softens. What more could you ask for when it only costs £4.95! This moisturiser can be used morning and evening and also works really well as a primer for makeup. Lemon fruit extract is used as a natural and effective antiseptic so if you are prone to spots and breakouts this will stop them from spreading and act as a soothing treatment. Orange blossom is also used to clarify the skin and helps to remove excess sebum and oils. The vitamin E protects against sun damage and pollution. I’ve been loving this product and think it will become an essential in the summer months.

Amie spring clean deep cleansing mask -£5.95

Perfect for detoxifying, purifying pores and combating blemishes this face mask is the perfect pick me up when your skin is being troublesome. Using peppermint, white clay and lime butter, it draws out any dirt and impurities while soaking up excess oil. It leaves your skin feeling refreshed and would work amazingly on teenage skin.

What amazes me about all these products is that they all work really well and are so affordable! They contain natural and organic active ingredients so will work together with your skin to leave it feeling refreshed and brand new. If you are looking for new items to try out as part of your skincare regime then I would definitely recommend picking them up and giving them ago. At this very moment in time, I know that the range is buy one get one free in Waitrose and you can also add some of them to your ‘Pick your own offers’ to get 20% off every time you buy them.

Please let me know if you give them ago and how they might compare to the skincare you are currently using!

Chocco Fruit Bites

Chocco Fruit Bites

IMG_0822If you have a bit of a sweet tooth you will know that the struggle with chocolate is real. With these chocco fruit bites they are very easy to make, giving you one of your five a day, and of course, chocolate!! What’s more is that they have a bit of bite to them from putting them in the freezer. Wanna make them? Here’s how!

Any fruit of your choice.
Dark/milk/white chocolate

I decided to use dark to try and make them a bit healthier.
I found that the best fruits to use were strawberries (of course), bananas, oranges, and melon.

How to make them:

  1. Prep your fruit and lay out onto a plate or chopping board. Basically anything you can fit into the freezer.
  2. Simply break up the chocolate into chunks and melt in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time. By doing it in 30 second intervals, it allows you to stir the chocolate and stop it from burning.
  3. Then simply dunk your fruit into the chocolate and lay back out onto the board. With the banana, I covered it completely and with the other fruits I went for half and half.
  4. Pop the fruits into the freezer for about 30 minutes or until the chocolate has hardened.

When taking out of the freezer leave to thaw for a couple of minutes and then they are ready to eat! The chocolate and banana ones taste like ice cream and the other fruits are really refreshing with a hint of chocolate. They are great for after dinner and will come in really handy for the summer months. What makes them so great is that they are so simple to make!

Let me know if you make them!

My Little Home Box

My Little Home Box

IMG_0817For the month of February My Little Box is all about your home. I wasn’t exactly sure what I was going to find when opening it up and was still unsure when I had opened it.

Although this month’s box did have lots to offer, for me, it was just a bit ‘meh’.
When opening it up this month’s quote was framed in a very pretty blue frame, and the quote was double sided. When trying to inspect the other quote the frame was quite difficult to open up and in doing so it broke. I know that for the price your not going to get a good quality frame so to speak. However, I did expect it to be a little better than flimsy cardboard.

You also received a pillow case which is double sided. The print is geometric on one side and blue with white polka dots on the other. The cushion is nice but again I don’t think the quality is that great. I would perhaps use it as a dust bag or try and find another use for it.

One thing I did really like about this month’s box was the magazine all about home improvements and interior design. I have just started an interior design course and so this has lots of cool ideas that are quite easy to achieve.

The beauty products I received were an English Leaf body cream from Mitchell and Peach, the Noxidoxi mask and peel face mask, and a morning moisturiser from My Little Beauty. If you read my post from last month’s box then you will know that I actually received the face mask in the last box so to get the same product twice in a row was a real disappointment. The body cream smells quite nice so I am looking forward to using that in the spring/summer months as it doesn’t suit this time of year, and the easy morning face cream is light and felt smooth on the back of my hand.

When looking at other people’s Instagram’s from this month’s box, I noticed that there were other products put in people’s boxes that I had already received.
Considering the amount of brands that My Little Box are associated with you would imagine that the boxes would be changed up every month but I feel like this month was a recycling process of lots of left over products from previous boxes.

And that was everything! Overall definitely not the best box in the world and I feel a bit disappointed. I decided to unsubscribe until I find out what is in next month’s box because at the moment I have received so many body creams from them I don’t know what to do with all of them!

If you are subscribed to My Little Box what do you think!

A Little Trip to the Sea

So my wellies are still hanging over the radiator as I went a bit too far into the sea to take a photo (fail). But! I have just had the most lovely escape to Bournemouth with some of my bestest friends for the last weekend of January. Two of my friends live down there for University and so we were able to stay with them over the weekend and camp out on their floor but I had such a great time that I didn’t want to return home!

Here are some photos of the weekend and what we got up to!
